My Babysitter's a Vampire (2010) Poster

Date Rewatched: 7/24/2023

Gay: 2/10. Ethan/Benny seeds are there but they're barely explored

Twilight Influences: Just kinda all twilight. They speak directly about twilight but just call it dusk because twilight is such a big part of this movie

Enjoyment: 7/10. I think the characters are great but it's just one big pilot episode and other episodes are better. I feel like they give Benny magic way too late and Ethan's visions are kinda off in this movie. These characters were made for 22 minute monster of the week episodes and this does a great job of establishing them but its kinda drawn out. Rory's limited movie role is really funny and I do like Erica and her transformation a lot. I love Jesse and his gang as a concept but as vampires they're kinda basic but I do always love when vampires can profit off of twilight's popularity.

Vampires: They're pretty classic. I love the detail that becoming a vampire makes you cool and you just stop being a nerd (although Erica still has her nerd moments in the show for sure) and the vampires have a LOT of powers (and all the classic weaknesses). Plus the scene of sarah eating a rat is so good. I wouldn't say it's visceral, this is a kids movie, but it did give me nightmares in 2010. The eyes can be cringe but you know... 3/10

Sire Rule: No sire rule

Representative of 2010s? Yeah definitely

Relative Popularity? Decent. If you watched disney channel from like 2010-2012 (like I did) you've seen it but that does lock it in a pretty specific generation.
